How to apply discounts by using Customer Discounts

To use the feature, access the "Customer Discounts" tab under the "Customers" menu and follow the step-by-step guide below.

Overview

The Customer Discounts feature in Bookteq allows you to create and assign different customer discounts with unique names and discount values for your hirers making facility bookings.

This feature enables hirers booking at your venue to receive discounted rates for both single and block bookings through the customer portal.

Step-by-Step Guide

Accessing Customer Discounts:

1. Go to the Main menu and click on the Customers tab to access customer data.

2. Here, you will find two tabs: Customers and Customer Discounts. Click on Customer Discounts to proceed.

 

Creating a New Customer Discount:

1. On the Customer Discount page, click on the Create a New Customer Discount button to begin.

2. Fill in the following data fields:

  • Customer Discount Name (max 40 characters): Enter a unique name for the new customer discount. This field is mandatory.
  • Discount (number/percentage): Select a discount filter or enter a customised discount value. This field is mandatory.
  • Status (Active/Inactive): Choose either 'Active' or 'Inactive' for the customer discount status. The default is 'Active,' and this field is mandatory.
  • Assign Customer Discount: Use the search functionality to select one or multiple existing customers to assign the new customer discount to them. Search by name, email address, or telephone.
  • View and Remove Assigned Customers: You can view the assigned customers and remove them if needed by using the remove icon (only displayed if customers are selected).
  • Send Customer Email Confirmation: Decide whether to send a customer email confirmation by ticking or unticking the checkbox. The default is unticked.

3. Once all the data is filled in, click on Save Changes to create the new customer discount.

 


Creating a New Customer and Assigning a Customer Discount:


When creating a new customer, you can either go into the Customer Type and assign a customer discount to the new customer or otherwise you can create the new customer and from the drop-down menu, select the appropriate customer discount for the newly created customer.

 

Troubleshooting Questions

1. Why can't I assign a customer discount to a booking order?

Ensure that the customer is an existing user or has been added as a new customer before attempting to assign a customer discount.

Verify that the customer discount status is set to 'Active' to allow the customer to receive the assigned discount.

 

2. I can't set a discount value 0%. What should I do?

The discount value must be set above 0% for customers to receive the discount on a booking order.

Ensure that the discount value is within the range of 0% to 100%; admin users cannot enter a discount higher than 100%.

 

3. Why is the customer not receiving the assigned customer discount?

Check if the customer has a single or multiple bookings to receive the customer discount on a booking order.

Ensure that the customer is assigned to the relevant customer discount; each customer can only be assigned one customer discount at a time.
